How ordering works, and how far ahead to book

Ordering runs through the website: pick the cake, the flavour and the size, add the personal details (a name, an age, a photo), then choose your date.

For a detailed celebration cake, give us as much notice as you can, since a detailed design is best booked well ahead.

When it is ready, choose delivery to the door anywhere across Melbourne, the CBD included, or click & collect from Keilor Park once the cake is ready. Status updates follow the cake right through, so the party morning is never a guessing game.

The craft that goes into a Cake People celebration cake

A celebration cake is the thing on the table everyone photographs, so the craft matters. Joanne and Stephen have owned and run The Cake People since 2014.

Joanne designs and hand-finishes every cake, and Stephen develops the recipes and runs production. Their work is judged in the Baking Association of Australia's Victorian Baking Show, scored against every other Victorian bakery with no allowance for how it is made.

Our recipes have proudly earned us medals for three consecutive years. The result is a centrepiece that perfectly nails the two things that matter most: exceptional presentation and competition-level taste.

Everyone at the celebration eats the same cake

There is no separate menu here. At The Cake People, every single cake we bake is 100% plant-based, meaning egg-free and dairy-free come completely standard.

This means one spectacular, delicious centrepiece the whole table can share, and no one is left holding a lesser "safe" alternative when it's time to cut the cake.

Just keep in mind that while we offer gluten-friendly options, we operate out of a shared plant-based kitchen and are not coeliac-certified.
