The vintage look

Lambeth piping is what gives a vintage cake its luxurious, antique, lacework finish. We build each design entirely by hand: rows of shells and scrolls, ruffles and swags, delicate beading, and piped roses or forget-me-nots in whatever palette you choose.

Soft pastels and creams offer a classic, romantic feel, while deeper, moodier tones lean into a striking Victorian aesthetic.

The heart-shaped vintage cake is our absolute signature, and we also craft mini vintage cakes for intimate tables or gifts.

Award-winning taste beneath the buttercream

A vintage cake has to earn its place as the centrepiece, and that comes down to what sits under the piping. The Cake People is an owner-run kitchen led by Joanne and Stephen, who have run a fully plant-based kitchen since 2014.

At the Baking Association of Australia's Victorian Baking Show, our cakes go up in the open Gateau category against conventional bakeries, with no separate allowance for plant-based craft.

They have come home with a medal for three years running, in 2024, 2025 and 2026. So the cake that looks the part cuts into a sponge judged among the best in the state, plant-based or not.

The look is probably what you came for, and here is the quiet upside: every vintage cake is 100% plant-based, so egg-free and dairy-free are built in, never a special request.
