We started out as The Compassionate Kitchen, supplying cafes and restaurants with cakes that proved plant-based baking could be every bit as indulgent as the real thing. Behind every cake was the same meticulous process: a flurry of inspiration, hours of careful crafting, and the quiet thrill of seeing a customer's face when their creation arrived exactly as they'd imagined.
As the business grew and our custom cake offering became our calling, we evolved into The Cake People — and the recognition followed. We've taken home Gold at the Baking Association of Australia Victorian Baking Show for three consecutive years, and our medal record tells its own story: Gold, Silver and Bronze in both 2025 and 2026, Gold and Silver in 2024, Gold and Bronze in 2022, and a Bronze Medal at the Australian Food Awards in 2019. It's a body of work we're incredibly proud of — one that reflects the same commitment to flavour and craft that has been at the heart of everything we do from day one.
